KK Slider Concert

Breaking news! In Animal crossing: New horizens, another event is going on here on Tortuga( Our island) ! The wonderful, grand, amazing, talented K.K Slider is here on Tortuga!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

KK Slider is a famous dog in Animal Crossing New Horizons. He's in lot of other Animal Crossing games (Pocket Camp, New Leaf, etc). He's really good at strumming the guitar and every Saturday evening on Tortuga he comes and he gives a concert by taking requests.

Last Saturday the whole family was really excited because KK Slider was performing and this was the first Saturday so we went down right after breakfast but realized that the concert started at 6pm. Sister set an alarm for 5:55pm so we could get down to the bunker on time because otherwise we would forget.

At 5:55pm we went downstairs and my dad went into Animal Crossing. He put it on the big tv and we went over to the plaza area and we talked to KK and he played some songs. He gave Daddy a copy of Bubblegum K.K.

There were other animals at the concert too and they all seemed really happy that we were doing the concert and waiting for it to start. One thing funny I found about it is that after you enter a song, KK says, "Ok take a seat so I can get started" but then when he starts playing all the characters stand up again!πŸ˜‚

Dear Badger #

Dear Badger

I have a terrible problem. At some point in my life, my friends and family got the idea that I adored dachshunds (aka wiener dogs). So they started giving me dachshund-themed giftsβ€”tea towels, t-shirts, posters, stationery, stuffed animals, even toilet paper covers. My whole house is covered with dachshunds. The only problem is, I’m terrified of dogs that look like sausages. What can I do?
Signed,
Drowning in Dachshunds

Dear Drowning in Dachshunds,

Well, if you're looking for a serious answer, maybe you should tell your friends politely that you are scared of dachshunds and then you could suggest things that you do like. For a silly answer, maybe you could take all of the dachshund things and bury them in the yard!
Love,
Badger

100 wishes to change the world

If I had one wish for anything in the world, I would wish for one hundred wishes. First, I would wish for guns to never have been made. Poverty to never be a thing. World peace, so no longer would there be such thing as wars. Woodcutters to stop cutting down trees so much. Boys and girls, FREE to be whatever they wanted to be, so no longer would there be such thing as boy schools and girl schools, boy clothes and girl clothes, boy colors and girl colors, boy games and girl games. The darn taliban to stop saying girls can't even go to school. If I had 1 wish, I would wish for 100 wishes. 100 wishes to change the world.

Katamari Damaci Reroll

What it is about: You are the prince of the King Of All Cosmos, ( who is a bit full of himself and pretty hilarious) and the King Of All Cosmos has smashed all the stars in the sky because, quote, " it was fun. " You have a GIGANTIC katamari ( ball) , and are rolling your ball around trying to pick up objects. You cannot pick up things that are bigger than your katamari, otherwise things will fall off. You also need to be careful not to bang into ( or collide with) something alive.

What I like about it: the King Of All Cosmos is HILARIOUS!

Nadiya's Time to Eat

What it is about: Nadiya's time to eat is a cooking show hosted by Nadiya Hussain, our favorite GBBO contestant. Her show is about how to make delicous meals that are extremly easy, but still taste Amazing!

What I like about it: Nadiya is such a good baker and she says that she quote "cheats" , but I really don't think she actually does.

Corn-antine Tortillas

Last week we made some tortillas using hominy and masa harina. The recipe was pretty easy except sometimes the batches didn't turn out as good as they were expected to. They all tasted delicious but some of the tortillas were more crumbly. But we liked them enough that we wanted to keep making them. In fact, we made them THREE times!!!!

We decided that the last batch we made worked out the best so the Creative Consultant put it on her recipe blog--Homemade Corn Tortillas.

Here is a photo of a storebought tortilla next to a homemade one.

Here is a table showing which wins the tortilla competition.

The Daily Birder aka The Daily Ex-Sight-Ment #

No new birds this week, but I did see a Song Sparrow feeding a begging fledgling. While I watched the begging bird, it flew to the feeder and grabbed a bite on its own, and then went back to begging. Hmmmmm!

From last week--how many birds did you think of with color in their names?

Here's the list I came up with. (I cheated and used my bird book, but I only put down birds I've seen in the Puget Sound area--Mt. Vernon to Olympia, mostly.

RED
Red-tailed Hawk
Red-breasted Sapsucker
Red-breasted Nuthatch
Ruby-crowned Kinglet
Rufous Hummingbird
Cinnamon Teal

Red-winged Blackbird (Where does this one go?)

ORANGE
Orange-crowned Warbler

BLACK
Black-capped Chickadee
Black-headed Grosbeak
Black-bellied Plover
Black Turnstone
Black Scoter

YELLOW-GOLD
American Goldfinch
Gold-crowned Sparrow
Gold-crowned Kinglet
Yellow-rumped Warbler (aka butterbutts)
Yellow Warbler
Yellowlegs (Greater/Lesser)

BLUE
Western Bluebird
Great Blue Heron
Blue-winged Teal
Lazuli Bunting
(Our blue jay is a Steller's Jay, not the same species as the Blue Jay that lives east of the Rocky Mts.)

GREEN
Green Heron
Green-winged Teal

Violet-green Swallow (Where does this one go?)

PURPLE
Purple Martin
Purple Finch

Climbing Trees #

Climbing trees, climbing trees
Grasping onto branches
No fear of bees
Way up high, touch the sky
Watching the people passing by
When you climb trees it feels like you can touch the sun
It really is very fun.
